School Project to promote Turkey to American Students: Turkey: The Best Kept Secret! PDF Print E-mail

The Turkish-American Friendship Council is pleased to announce a new educational initiative which aims to increase the awareness of the Turkish history and culture to middle school students in Atlanta, Georgia, US. This project will be in collaboration with the Turkish Student Organization (TSO) at Georgia-Tech University and is supported by the Cultural Attaché of the Turkish Consulate General in New York City.

The Hemangioma Treatment Project PDF Print E-mail

The ATFC is working towards launching a program between The Hemangioma Treatment Foundation and the medical community in Turkey for the treatment of hemangiomas and other disfiguring vascular birthmarks in children. The proposed program consists of Dr. Hochman, Founder and Medical Director of the Foundation, traveling to Turkey to collaborate with local physicians and share the latest surgical technologies.

Turkish Breast Cancer Center PDF Print E-mail
 

The ATFC has embarked on the largest project in its history; the establishment of a breast cancer center in the city of Mersin on Turkey’s southern coast. The clinic will serve a region of the country currently in need of a comprehensive approach to the detection and treatment of breast cancer. The ATFC Clinic will provide especially the under-served women with all the resources necessary to detect, diagnose, and treat their breast cancer at the earliest stage possible. The early detection followed by treatment and rehabilitation is the key to increased recovery rates.

ÇATOMs (Multipurpose Community Centers) Project Program PDF Print E-mail

Each year, The American Turkish Friendship Council selects one or two ÇATOM projects and becomes a sponsor. Our objective in 2010 is to raise $18,000 to sponsor and further enhance the Reading Room in Mardin, Turkey, to provide more stationary supplies to students in Şırnak, Turkey, and to provide 100 boots and 100 coats.

Medshare International Alliance PDF Print E-mail
The ATFC is working with MedShare International, an Atlanta-based non-profit organization, to help deliver medical supplies and equipment to Turkish hospitals in need. A typical MedShare container is valued at approximately $150,000 - $200.00 and the ATFC needs to raise $20,000 for each shipment.
